Laminate flooring and electric underfloor heating

09/10/2021

The good weather ends and winter arrives.

It's time to take refuge at home. It already seems like it.

It's time to get comfortable on the sofa watching my favorite series on TV listening to how the rain crashes and slides on the window panes.

I look around every corner of the room. The truth is that it is good lying here on the sofa. But as I've been doing for a while now, I pay attention to the ground. I always think the same… someday I have to change this old floor.

I remember that this same year I saw an advertisement for a laminate flooring. Wide range of colors and at a good price. The truth is that it would look fantastic in my living room. Besides, I could even put it myself. What better plan to spend a peacefully handy Sunday.

By the way!!! Now that I have made the decision to change the floor in my living room, I think it would be a great success to install underfloor heating. Yes... that heating that is installed on the floor and keeps your feet warm and a Pleasant atmosphere.

The only problem is that, of course, I should get into construction. Buffff…. I am now enough to lift the whole floor.

Since I have the laptop in front of me, I'm going to browse the internet for a little while to see if I'm informed.

Well, let's see….this website looks interesting……Cecather underfloor heating

Here they say that I can install my heating by means of electric underfloor heating and that it would only occupy 7 mm.

Sounds interesting, let me read on…… heating to low consumption, fast installation and kit sale self-installable in online store... and also they themselves design the facility no strings attached!!! From what they say, the heating incorporates a thermal isolation and, honestly, thinking about it, it wouldn't hurt to insulate the entire floor, well yes... and even the heating can be controlled via WiFi…. This is beginning to like more and more.

And why not? i will get in contact right now. In two or three days I have all the material in my house, and on top of that without transportation costs. And then, don't worry, they advise me online on the correct installation and certificate of guarantee for 10 years

I already have homework for the weekend and then to enjoy my new floor, warm with my underfloor heating and on my sofa listening to the rain!!!

Leave us your information and we will advise you on your reform to place your electric underfloor heating almost without works.

Thermal insulation for electric underfloor heating

11/08/2021

A correct installation of underfloor heating must incorporate a good thermal insulation that guarantees maximum efficiency of the heating system.

Aislante térmico para suelo radiante eléctrico

Cécather Group incorporates in all its underfloor heating installations electric foil the insulator XPS CacatherPlus®

This product is a rigid extruded polystyrene, thermoplastic in nature and with a closed cell structure.

The totally closed cell structure of CecatherPlus® provides excellent performance against water absorption and as a thermal insulator. The high rigidity of the cell structure given by the great homogeneity of the cells provides, in turn, a very high mechanical resistance capacity.

The thermal conductivity (parameter that indicates the ability to transmit heat of a material) of our insulation is 0.22 m2K/W (EN 12664 Standard). A material will be a better insulator the lower this coefficient is)

The closed cell structure of XPS CecatherPlus® allows it to be a product whose water absorption by total long-term immersion is less than 0.7%.

It also has a correct compressive strength of 150 KPa (EN 826:2013 Standard)

Another important concept is the reaction to fire, which indicates the contribution of the product in case of fire. Our XPS has category E Euroclass (EN 13501-1:2010 Standard) which means that, by incorporating fire retardants, it is fire resistant and self-extinguishing at all times.

Truths and lies about underfloor heating

19/07/2021

After many years of working in the field of radiant heating, we find ourselves on too many occasions with comments from our future clients who expressed their concern when hearing certain unfavorable criticisms of our heating system.

These opinions are directed towards a very important and sensitive issue, which is none other than our health.

In this article we are going to clarify these doubts, relying at all times on empirical and verified data, ruling out the rumor mill so common in uninformed people who with good (or bad) intentions give their wrong version and even those professionals in the trade who they use these hoaxes with commercial interests and seeking their ends.

What are you going to install underfloor heating??? Do not even think about it!!!! You will get varicose veins.

How many times have we heard this phrase…

Well, let's start strong.

Underfloor heating is the only heating system recommended by the World Health Organization.

This data should already be enough reasoning, but since we know that some hoaxes are more resistant than certain viruses, we can assure the following, based on the current Regulations...

Underfloor heating cannot cause varicose veins because to do so, very high temperatures should be reached on the pavement surface. The Regulations for thermal installations prohibits exceeding 29 ºC on the pavement surface (UNE EN 1264)

Nowadays, Cécather Group you are installing your radiant system by electric folio in children care centers, residences for the elderly, pilates-yoga rooms, etc. because it is precisely the most beneficial... anything else to add?

Underfloor heating is much healthier than a heating system. convection heating… cleaner air, fewer mites, and respect for ambient air because it maintains a normal humidity level and does not dry it out like radiators or air conditioning.

And then, where does the varicose veins come from...???

Every hoax has an origin and a cause that provokes it. The first news of the hoax of varicose veins arose in a conference on heating, developed in the context of a trade fair.

During the question and answer time, someone asked the opinion of the speaker about the new underfloor heating system. The speaker's response was as follows: “It is a system that is too new, it has not been sufficiently tested and it has a big problem, which is that the heat is received by the feet, which hinders blood circulation and causes varicose veins”.

From this first conference the hoax grew, becoming the tagline of any conversation about underfloor heating. What the people who repeat it do not know, in addition to the regulations and characteristics of underfloor heating, is that the brand promoting that conference manufactured radiators. It is clear, then, his motivation for making these statements.

And what do the doctors say about all this…?

We have the medical opinion represented by its highest authority, the WHO, which not only does not advise against its use but also recommends it.

According to Dr. Heinrich Rossman, Chief Doctor at the Mainburg District Hospital, people who suffer from varicose veins or who are predisposed to thrombosis, should not fear that their health problems will be made worse by underfloor heating, if they are not above ground surface temperatures. What's more, it could even be said that a radiant floor system is more beneficial for those people with circulation problems since they are prone to cold feet.

Anecdotally, there was a famous doctor from the Netherlands in the 19th century who was highly regarded for his professional skill. When he died, the news spread that he had left a writing about his medical knowledge as a professional testament. The editors went looking for it to publish it as a scoop and when they found it they found only a laconic sentence that said:

"The secret of good health is to have warm feet, a cool head and a light stomach"

The first and second recommendation are already dealt with Cécather Group, the third is up to our customers.

Radiating floor??? This heating produces radiation like microwave ovens and one way or another it will affect your health!!!

We can imagine the astonished face of our client... his house turned into a large microwave oven.

It is just a physical matter that, without going into brainy explanations, consists of clarifying that all bodies emit energy towards the outside in the form of radiation. This energy, which travels outwards, is defined as electromagnetic radiation, which is of the same nature as that transmitted by the sun. This same physical principle is applied to the electric radiant foil heating system whose emission is perceived by the human body as a sensation of heat.

The wavelength used in our heating is in a range of 2 to 50 µm, totally innocuous values.

In conclusion, the strength of the electric field generated by the operation of the electric radiant foil product is significantly below the limits established by the Health and Medical Research Council and the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA/INIRC).

With this brief article we have tried to clarify and deny hoaxes.

However, we are at your entire disposal to clarify any doubts and remember that…

heating for animals

Build a shelter for the autumn-winter season

When the heavy fall rains or winter cold sets in, it's important for your dog to have a place to shelter. It is then when to put a comfortable bed indoors and out of drafts and that our furry will thank us, because it allows him to rest calmly when it starts to rain or it is too cold and it will protect him from the wind.

It is important that there is a space between the bed and the ground, in this way we will isolate the dog from the humidity of the ground, for this it is convenient to put the bed on a pallet or a wooden platform to avoid direct contact with the ground. It is important to remove any moisture and create a dry environment that we can achieve with just a few Cecather electric radiant sheets.

Calefacción para animales

If you build a wooden shelter for your dog, try to isolate it correctly and for this we also offer you the possibility of acquiring our system CecatherPluss rigid insulation, ideal for its thermal behavior and small thickness (6 mm.)

“Tell me how you are with animals and I will tell you what kind of person you are.”
J. Manuel Serrano Marquez.

We advise you so that you can provide your animals with the best thermal comfort they deserve.

Types of electric underfloor heating

14/07/2021

Tipos de suelos radiantes eléctricos

Within the electric radiant floor systems that are commercialized in the market, there are different technologies that differ from each other due to their technical characteristics and their operation. In this article we will explain what types of electric underfloor heating exist and we will focus on describing the operation and applications of the underfloor heating in particular.

There are several systems that we can consider as electric underfloor heating:

Cable floor heating and radiant mesh

It is a twisted cable in the form of a coil that is installed continuously in a room, so that any breaking point that occurs would affect the entire installation. In this type of system, the emitter has the diameter of a pen and it is a product that requires very high temperatures to heat the room.

Electric underfloor heating

He heating film, Unlike cable and radiant mesh, is made up of a system of independent sheets that are distributed throughout the rooms and are numbered according to the distribution plan. Each sheet is installed independently from one another, so that, in the event of a specific failure of one of these sheets, the rest of the system does not stop working.

The radiant foil has standard measurements with a width of 550 cm (or 445 cm, depending on the installation), with a length according to needs, it is a heating system that works at low temperaturesto. The advantages of operating at a low temperature compared to the cable or the radiant mesh are, on the one hand, that it is a system of low consumption and on the other, that it can be used with laminated wooden floors since it emits a soft heat that does not affect the wood at all. For this reason, most of the laminate floors that are currently on the market are suitable for the installation of the radiant foil heating system.

100-year functional guarantee: a fail-safe system

Due to its composition, the radiant foil has two conductors in parallel through which the electricity is fed. The heating element consists of 8-millimeter-thick graphite rods. For safety, every 8 millimeters of heating have 3 mm neutral bands. and so on, not giving continuity between one band and another. This means that, if a point of the underfloor heating were perforated, only 8 millimeters of sheet would "die". Not only is each plate independent, but within the plate itself, each circuit is independent.

On the other hand, the radiant folio has a certified useful life by Avis Technique -certification granted by the French CSTB institute and which measures the longevity of products- of 850,000 hours of use, about 100 years.
