Disadvantages of underfloor heating by aerothermal energy

  • Sound impact. The outdoor unit, as well as the indoor unit, produce a sound level of between 45 dB and 65 dB. Keep in mind that the indoor unit must have sufficient space for its installation.
  • permissions. Depending on the size and situation of the home, it may be necessary to obtain special permits for its execution and implementation. If you live in a residential building and you do not have a terrace or patio, it must be installed on the façade, so you must take into account the legislation at the municipal level and have a community of neighbors.
  • Electricity. An increase in the contracted power of electricity is necessary.
  • Climatic zone. It is not advisable in very cold climatic areas, because its performance will be lower. From 5ºC its performance drops considerably –between 30 and 40%-. In addition, since its operation is based on an evaporative system that comes into direct contact with the air, its performance levels may be unstable due to fluctuations in the outside temperature.

Before undertaking the study of our heating we must consider several aspects of the project. Among them are what we call passive measures and, on the other hand, active measures.

Passive measures in a new house project: the thermos

What do we mean by passive measures? They correspond to the particular characteristics of the dwelling under study. Among them we can indicate the correct orientation of the house, its design, the isolation, etc. That is, those measures that do not require direct energy consumption.

Active measures: the coffee maker

And which ones do you activate? When passive measures are not enough, the house needs to "generate heat". That is, they are the measures related to the necessary energy consumption. And this section includes, among others, heating.

A clear way to understand the above is to think about the easiest way to keep a coffee hot: by a thermos or through a coffee maker.

A thermos keeps the coffee hot (our home) preventing it from getting cold, that is, isolating it from the outside, but without consuming energy. It is then a passive system.

A coffee maker, however, does not have insulation, but it does, through a minimum consumption of electricity (electric radiant foil) is able to maintain the temperature of the coffee by heating it stably at the same temperature. In this case the system is active.
